At Street Academy, social justice is not just a buzzword - it's a way of life. Our school is committed to providing an inclusive and empowering education that prepares our students to be active participants in creating a more just and equitable society. Through our unique curriculum and supportive community, we strive to inspire our students to become advocates for change. One of the ways we foster a passion for social justice is through our classroom discussions. As seen in the image, our students are actively engaged in a dialogue about important social issues. We believe that by creating a safe space for open and respectful conversations, we can help our students develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of the world around them. In addition to classroom discussions, we also incorporate social justice into our curriculum. Our African American and La Raza Studies courses provide students with the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and contributions of marginalized communities. By studying the struggles and triumphs of these groups, our students gain a greater appreciation for diversity and the importance of social justice. At Street Academy, we also believe in the power of experiential learning. Through our Project-Based Learning and workplace-based learning opportunities, our students have the chance to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world situations. Whether it's organizing a community event or working with local organizations, our students learn firsthand how they can make a positive impact in their communities. Restorative justice and transformative life skills are also integral parts of our curriculum. We understand that many of our students face challenges and obstacles in their lives, and we strive to provide them with the tools and support they need to overcome these barriers. By teaching conflict resolution, empathy, and self-reflection, we empower our students to become agents of change in their own lives and in society. Our commitment to social justice extends beyond the classroom. We offer students the opportunity to travel and experience different cultures, broadening their perspectives and fostering a sense of global citizenship. We also provide resources for college financial aid, ensuring that our students have access to higher education and the opportunities it brings. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we are proud of the impact Street Academy has had on the lives of our students and the community. We invite you to join us in our mission of social justice education. Whether you're a student, parent, or community member, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference. Together, we can create a more just and equitable world for all.
