Gennaro Valant comes to the Street Academy with a variety of experiences working with young people. Before beginning with the Street Academy in August of 2024, Gennaro was working as an Education Technician and Outdoor Education instructor in Portland, ME, serving special education students and more with both in school instruction and leading outdoor expeditions. Gennaro, originally from Pittsburgh, PA, graduated from the University of Vermont in 2020 with a degree in Outdoor Education and Community Development.

His experience in working with youth has always been focused in social and emotional learning along with classroom education, which now drives his work as a Humanities CTM. When not working, Gennaro spends most of his time in the mountains and oceans around the Bay Area and beyond, mountain biking, backpacking, fly fishing, and rock climbing. Gennaro is incredibly excited to be here working with the Street Academy community and is always looking to develop connections and foster the growth of young people’s potential!
