David has devoted nearly 30 years to education, starting with his tenure at the Oakland/Emiliano Zapata Street Academy in Oakland. Currently, he works as a special education math teacher at Ida B. Wells Continuation High School in San Francisco. His commitment to higher education is further reflected in his role as an adjunct professor at several California universities. He earned a teaching credential, a Master of Arts degree, and a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction (with a concentration in special education) at the University of San Francisco.

Outside of his professional pursuits, David finds solace in his Richmond, California home, where he resides with his wife, Teresa Walsh.
