The Oakland Emiliano Zapata Street Academy is holds monthly orientations for enrollment. Come learn about how the Street Academy supports student success in a unique, small-school environment. If you have a friend, neighbor, or relative in the Oakland area who is not succeeding in their current school, or is looking for an authentic and empowering education, they should definitely come to an orientation. Oakland/Emiliano Zapata Street Academy High SchoolACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT • Students who would have otherwise dropped out of high school become college eligible and are prepared for a career after graduation. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT • Students are taught to take responsibility for themselves, others and the improvement of society by actively engaging in struggles against oppression in all its forms. RESPECT • Students learn to respect themselves and others while the Counselor / Teacher / Mentor (CTM) establishes genuine relationships with youth built on high expectations and mutual respect. RESPONSIBILITY • Students are inspired by curriculum that is culturally relevant and that emphasizes social justice.
